A Baseball Challenge Benefiting Don Bosco Hall
Batting for Kids is a baseball competition for boys and girls ages 5 - 13 at Comerica Park, where kids get a chance to practice baseball skills and compete in skill competitions on the same field their sports heroes play on.
At Batting for Kids, our participants will learn about staying healthy and the importance of exercise thanks to partnerships with the staff at the Detroit Medical Center, who lead our youth in stretching exercises, the local YMCA, who engage our participants in fun games and relays, and the baseball teams from Wayne State and Henry Ford College, who talk with youth about staying dedicated to sports. Then, youth get a chance to practice their baseball skills - especially batting, pitching, and baserunning.
In addition to these great skills clinics, the participants will compete in three areas: batting, pitching, and base running. The boy and girl winner for each age group in these three areas will be invited to return for a Tiger's game later in the season and come on to the field for a special pre-game ceremony honoring them!
